I have a GE quietpower 3 dishwasher I haven't used in years, started a regular cycle today and when it turned off, I can't unlatch it.

Got it. If the dishwasher won't do anything at all, the problem could be the power supply. Check the circuit breaker. Flip the switch to the “off” position and then turn it back on.
