I cannot receive my hotmail emails

Short summary:

  1. Open your Hotmail email account in your web browser.
  2. At the top of the page, select "Settings" and then click on "View all Outlook settings."
  3. Select "Mail" and then click on "Forwarding."
  4. If you see that your emails are being forwarded to your wife's email account, deselect the "Enable forwarding" checkbox at the top.
  5. Click on "Save" and then reload the page.
  6. Try sending an email to yourself or ask someone to send you an email to test if you can receive emails again.

it's on my laptop
emails my wife sends me appear to be going to her email and I'm getting none.

Does that happen only with emails that your wife sends to you, or with all emails in general?

even ones I send myself are going to her. her email is the backup email for my account..
plus ones from other people do not come to me.

Ok, good.
At the top of the page, select Settings > View all Outlook settings.
Then select Select Mail > Forwarding and tell me what you see there.

Ok, do you have "Stop forwarding" button there?

no but I can stop it by unchecking enable forwarding

  • You need to deselect the "Enable forwarding" tickbox at the top.
  • Then press "Save" and reload the page.
  • And try to send an email.
