Websites and apps want to send notifications to users after their permission. However, some users may have permitted it by mistake. And it's common when they just want to stop receiving notifications. Especially while working, we can be momentarily distracted by the notification falling on our screen or hearing the notification sound. You can get rid of this inconvenience by turning off Chrome notifications.

Turn off Chrome notifications on Android and iOS

The process is the same for iOS and Android platforms. Choose whether you want to block only one site or all sites.

Block notifications for a single website

  1. Open the Google Chrome mobile app.
  2. Then tap the menu with the three dots in the top right corner.
  3. Then enter the "Settings" section.
  4. Then tap "Site settings" in the "Advanced" section below.
  5. Switch to the "All sites" section. Find the site you are annoyed with and tap it. If not, use the search in the top right corner.
  6. Finally, disable the "Notifications" feature under "Permissions".

Turn off Chrome notifications for all websites

  1. After opening the Chrome mobile app, tap the three dots at the top right.
  2. Then enter Settings.
  3. Enter the "Notifications" section below.
  4. Finally, disable the "Show notifications" option to turn off Chrome notifications.

Turn off Chrome notifications on a computer (Windows, Mac, Linux)

We will follow the same steps in the computer environment without any difference between Windows, Mac, or Linux operating systems.

Turn off notifications for a single website

  1. Visit the site for which you want to turn off notifications.
  2. Click on the "Lock" icon at the top of the site address in the address bar.
  3. Click on "Site settings".
  4. Find the "Notifications" permission in the Permissions section and choose "Block" in the preference section opposite it.

Turn off Chrome notifications for all websites

  1. Click on the three dots icon at the top right.
  2. Click on Settings.
  3. In "Search in settings" type "Notifications".
  4. Navigate to the "Site Settings" section from the results.
  5. Then click on "Notifications" under "Permissions".
  6. In the pane that opens, check "Do not allow sites to send notifications" under "Default behavior".

Therefore, the process of turning off Chrome notifications is almost the same across platforms. There are only slight differences between desktop and mobile.
