How to configure the router

You need to take several steps to set up your router. Initially, you need to install and connect the device correctly. After that, it is possible to configure the key parameters. It is important not to mix up anything because success largely depends on attentiveness. Let's consider each of the steps in the article.

Selecting an installation location

Firstly, you should decide where to put the router. Usually, a suitable place is in the vicinity of the cable of the Internet provider. There should be no obstacles in the way, such as:

• Mirrors;
• Phones;
• Radios;
• Devices that are powered by the electric network.

The presence of these can significantly degrade signal strength. We advise you to increase the range by choosing a location closest to the center of the house. The height of the location also plays an important role. The higher the router is installed, the more stable the signal.

Connecting

Once you have chosen a suitable location, you can proceed with the connection. The first step is to connect the device to the mains. You should notice the colored lights flashing.

After that, you must plug the network cable into the WAN port. It can be easily recognized by its color (usually blue). Connecting to a laptop or PC means connecting to the LAN port. You may notice that there are several connectors of this kind. Why? The answer is simple: in this way, it is possible to connect several devices simultaneously.

Setting up

It is impossible to enter the settings successfully without a password and login information - the data is almost always placed on the router. In most cases, the word "admin" serves as the login and password as well.

After that, you will need to use the browser. In the corresponding line, you should specify the IP address (it can also be learned on the case sticker). After clicking on it, you must enter the password and login mentioned above.

The setup begins with asking for the type of connection. Your ISP has this information. You can also get the gateway, password, and login information from your ISP. The choice of network name depends entirely on your imagination. You have to make it up yourself.

Next, you need to decide which access key to set. It must be secure and consist of many letters and numbers. Tell the key information to anyone who wants to connect to the network using your router.
