I have the philips espresso-coffee maker EP3221

When I manually make a cup of coffee I follow all the instructions and sometimes I just get hot water.

I have totally cleaned the machine. Is it possible that I am adding too much coffee through the top opening. Also, If I push the hot water button for 5 seconds and then do the manual process I get success. Is this a normal procedure?


I see, thank you for the details! The manual procedure should also allow you to make coffee.
Could you please tell me if you noticed any weird behavior? Such as loud noise, water not flowing

No noise. And the water came out just fine. But just water the coffee was not brewed.

Yes. I turn the machine on, add the pre-ground coffee, place my cup under the spout, Manually press the strength button until the cup icon is lit, set my portion size and then push start

Gotcha! If the correct amount of coffee grounds is exceeded while using the pre-ground coffee function, this can cause the brew group to be overfilled: the coffee powder will be discarded, and the machine will not dispense coffee
To prevent this from happening when using the pre-ground coffee function: make sure the machine is properly switched ON and ready for use before adding pre-ground coffee into the pre-ground coffee compartment. Only use one full scoop of coffee grounds with the spoon provided and strike off the top access
