I t is a new thermostat, there are no other devices in the home

Some recommendations on your issue: restart your Google Nest thermostat to fix several issues, like when the display is stuck, frozen or slow, or if your thermostat has disconnected from Wi-Fi and is offline in the app. Reset your thermostat to clear out some or all of your personal settings, such as the temperature schedule.

How to restart or reset

Please, follow the next instructions:
Before you reset your thermostat, write down the settings so you can easily restore them if needed. Go to Settings Nest settings icon and then Equipment on your thermostat and record your system wires, your heating type, and your Safety Temperature settings.

  1. Press your thermostat ring to open the Quick View menu.
  2. Choose the Settings Nest settings icon.
  3. Turn the ring to Reset and press select.

i found the settings, they are labeled a bit differently, but it has now reset and says go back to home app and start over , which I will do. Thanks
