Please, try to follow the next steps:

  • Always be sure you can see the front of your Roku device. When the device is powered on, you should see the status light on the front of the device.
  • Test your remote from various positions. Try holding your remote higher and point it downwards at the front of your Roku streaming device. Move the remote to the left and right, making sure it is always pointing directly at the front of your streaming device. If your streaming device becomes more responsive when testing from various positions, check that no obstructions are blocking the front of your device or the signal from your remote. If possible, move your streaming device to a position where it responds more reliably.
  • Do not hide your streaming player. If your streaming player is attached to your TV with the included adhesive strip, move it to a position where the signal is less likely to be blocked. Do not install it inside a closed cabinet or behind your TV.

The remote doesn’t light up and I’m 2” from the Roku box

Got it, thanks for clarifying that.
Another common cause for a Roku remote not working is that the control has become unpaired from the box it is supposed to operate.
System updates, low power, changing Wi-Fi networks, using the device with another Roku box, or a simple technical glitch could all theoretically trigger an unexpected unpairing.
Thankfully, it is easy to pair a Roku remote with a Roku box or streaming stick. Just follow the instructions below:

  1. Disconnect your Roku box from its power supply.
  2. Wait 10 seconds, reconnect the box, and wait for the Home page to load.
  3. Locate the pairing button on your remote. It is typically found on the front of the device or in the
    battery compartment.
  4. Hold the button down for five seconds or until you see the Roku remote blinking.

Is everything clear with the provided instruction?

I unplugged the power and when I plugged it in Roku was blinking and then it went to tomorrow error help
the remote doesn’t light up at all

Please, try to press and hold the pairing button for three seconds or until the pairing light starts flashing. If the light does not flash, try again. If the light still does not flash, then you will need to replace your batteries.

The remote control is not working with the second set of batteries

Also, please, try to press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds, or until you see the status light begin to flash. If the light does not flash, charge your remote. Wait for 30 seconds while the remote establishes a connection with your streaming device.

I’ve pushed all the buttons on the remote still nothing I believe there’s a button on the box I’m going to check

Also, you can try to reset a Roku remote, follow the steps below:

  • Remove the batteries from your Roku remote.
  • Remove the power supply from the Roku box/stick (or go to Settings > System > System Restart > Restart if you have an IR Roku remote that's still working).
  • Wait 10 seconds and then reconnect your Roku box to the power.
  • Wait for the Home screen to load.
  • Reinsert the batteries into your Roku remote.
Customer Replay

it resets the power in the streaming device but when it comes back it asked for the language and the remote won’t work

Have you already tried to follow the steps I send you above?

Customer Replay

yes and the remote does nothing

Please, check your Wi-Fi connection

  • If you've worked through all the Roku remote troubleshooting tips but you've still not had any success, your Wi-Fi connection could be the culprit.
  • The Roku remote does not require an internet connection in order to connect to your box, but it does need a functioning local network. If your local network is down for any reason, the remote will not function until the connection is restored.
  • If you have enough technical knowledge, it might be worth digging into the router's settings; something might have happened that's causing the remote's connection to get blocked.

i think I’m going to go back to my old Roku and send this one back

Do you have any additional questions I can help you with?

Customer Replay

I’m back on my old Roku with no problems maybe I need a faster network
thanks for your efforts. I appreciate your time and help. Good try

You can try to connect your new Roku to a different network to check it, John.
