Samsung tv is new so is the sound bar it’s connected to a DIRECTV box When using the Samsung remote the tv stays on and has to be turned off manually

All Samsung TVs have a TV control button that will allow you to turn the TV on/off, and change the volume and source input. You can find it on TV directly.

You have to use the remote that goes with your TV, you can't control both devices with one remote.

With the one that goes with it manufactural?

Have you tried to replace batteries in it?

Are you able to control TV with it remote? Press the Home button i.e. and see if it takes you anywhere?

So remote works?
But doesn't shut it down?

1. Open Settings, and then select General.
2. Select Reset, enter your PIN (0000 is the default), and then select Reset.
3. To complete the reset, select OK. Your TV will restart automatically.
After it will finish restarting, please try to turn it on
and off with your remote.

Than navigate to Settings, select Support, and then select Self Diagnosis.
