What troubleshooting have you done so far?
It was advertised that no set up was needed...only put batteries in and point at tv

Please, try to reset your remote
You need to take out the batteries, unplug your Roku device and plug it back in, replace the batteries, and hold down the reset button until the remote re-pairs.
Where is reset button?
Press and hold the reset button, which is located in the battery compartment, for about 5 seconds.
