I want to get rid of total AV and I can't figure out how.

I have a Mac

Short summary:

  1. Open your Mac's Applications folder.
  2. Find the TotalAV app and drag it to the Trash.
  3. Right-click on the Trash icon and select "Empty Trash" to delete TotalAV completely.
  4. To remove Total AV from the Recent Items list, open the Apple menu, select "Recent Items," and delete the Total AV entry.

Hello, thank you for using Howly.
Could you please specify, if you have signed up for a Total AV subscription or just installed the app?

I Think I just I just installed app

Got it, in that case, it can be easily uninstalled. Could you please specify if you have your Mac nearby?

Customer Replay

yes

Great!
First of all, please open your Mac's Applications folder. You can click the blue folder with the "A" icon on the Dock, or click Applications on the left sidebar in any Finder window.

Great!
Please, find the TotalAV app in your Applications folder. The TotalAV app looks like a white keyhole on a red shield icon.

Customer Replay

It's not in my app folder. There's an icon across the bottom of screen

Oh, I see, thank you for the clarification!
Please, click and hold on the Total AV icon in the dock until a menu appears. From the menu, select "Options" and then tell me what options you have there.

Customer Replay

Only one. Remove from dock.

Please, select it and then check if it will appear in your Applications folder.

Great!
In the System Preferences window, locate the Total AV icon. It may be listed under a specific category such as "Security & Privacy" or "Profiles".

Customer Replay

Under privacy I don't see it

It may have disappeared after the uninstalling, could you please clarify if you can still locate it anywhere in the System Preferences?

Customer Replay

I don't see it anywhere there

Great!
That means that we have got rid of it.

Customer Replay

Total AV is still in my Recent items

Got it, no worries
Please, go back to the System Preferences window and click on the "General" icon.

Customer Replay

Ok
Done

Please, look for the section labeled "Recent items"

Customer Replay

I don't see that in system preferences

I see, in that case, please click on the Apple menu icon located in the top-left corner of the screen and please tell me if you can see "Recent Items" there.

Customer Replay

Yes and total av is there

Got it
Please, press and hold the Command key on your keyboard, then click on the Total AV entry in the Recent Items list.
After that with the Total AV entry selected, press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Customer Replay

When I hold command it changes to show total av

I see, in that case, could you please specify if you can see the number of recent items to display that you should be allowed to adjust

Customer Replay

I can't figure out how to delete it. There is a clear menu. Does that do any good

I see, then there should be a "Clear" button, it will clear the Recent Items list

Customer Replay

I hit clear menu. Recent items are empty

Great!
Could you please specify if you have a total AV anywhere else?

Customer Replay

I don't think so

Glad to hear that!

Customer Replay

I think we're done. Thanks
