I have just bought a SONY DVD player, type DVP-SR760H to go with my 10 month old Toshiba type 33LL3C63DB TV

I cannot bring up the DVD menu or play DVDs in the TV which is linked via a HDMI cable

  1. Unplug your TV from the wall socket and turn off the DVD player
  2. Locate the Input panel on the rear of the TV and find the "Composite In" or "Video In" ports.


These are small, circular ports that are yellow, red or white. Locate the "Output" panel on the rear of the DVD player and the "Composite Out" or "Video Out" ports.

Ok, then just connect it with your HDMI

Turn on the power for the TV and the DVD player.
Press the "Input" or "TV/Video" button until the correct input for the DVD is select and the DVD player screen appears on the TV.

Just to be sure, do you have these three cables with your DVD player?
Red, white and yellow

the only cables are power and one HDMI cable, there is only one HDMI port on the DVD

Could you try pressing and holding the PAUSE button on the front of the DVD player for 5 seconds?

Just to be sure, please, try to connect it to the first one and try to find if DVD appear by pressing input button
And do the same for each of the HDMI ports

Some legacy HDMI sources may not work properly with the latest HDMI products due to new standard adoption. Do you have some other HDMI cable to check it?

no this is the only cable I have which I bought yesterday

Is your DVD turned on now?
