Please try following these steps:
- Hold the **Volume down + Power buttons** for 10-15 seconds until you feels it vibrate. If needed, you can hold it a bit longer, that's OK. The galaxy will then show a system menu with instructions on how to use the menu. In most cases, he would need to use **Volume Up** or **Down** buttons to change menu selections and the **Bixby/Power button** key to select.
- Use the **Volume Down button** to move the selection down to the **"Power down"** choice.
- Use the **Bixby/Power button** to select/confirm "**Power down**".

it goes to samsung a20 screen then to black screen that says samsung. then back to screen lock and when i swipe to unlock it asks for my password again.
i have my password in the memo app in my phone

Follow these steps:
1. Once the recovery menu has opened on your device, use the **Volume Up** and **Volume Down** buttons to select **Delete all** **user data** or **Wipe data/factory reset**, then press the **Power button** to select.
2. Select **Yes, Yes - delete all user data or Factory data reset**. And then press the **Power button** to select.
3. The device will process the factory reset. Once complete, you will see **Data wipe complete** at the bottom of the screen. Press the **Power** button to select **Reboot device**.
4. Once your device has rebooted, you may be asked to enter your **Google password** to access the device.
