I got this new netgear router in august and ever since I can't get a printer to show up

Follow these steps, please:
Download the HP Print Service Plugin from the Google Play Store and install it on your device.
Get the Wi-Fi Direct printer name. Every HP printer with Wi-Fi Direct has a unique name and password. You'll need them to connect your device.
Use the apps to print.
Select your printer.
Wait for connection and print.

the connection comes and goes

Well, usually, you do not have to change it; it may be enabled in your router's settings.

I am not using the 5g connect
it lets me connect until it asks to press the i to continue in setup
It loses the printer when it tries to accesses the network

Got it, do you know how to change the frequency on your router to 2.4GHz?

How can I access my router info

Ok, step by step.
Go to your Wi-Fi settings and search for the IP address of your router.

Go to Settings >> Wireless & networks/WLAN, or Settings >> Network & Internet >> Wi-Fi. Tap on the Wi-Fi you are connected to, then it will show the network info including signal strength, security, MAC address and IP address.
