Big Button 200 telephone has ceased working, no sound on lifting the handset

Switched batteries just in case, followed instruction to unplug socket while doing this.

I received one tel call successfully, was able to have conversation. An hour later phone rang again, but no tone was heard, and no connection, silent. Have tried unplugging and reconnecting since without
